Free Isn't Always Better
A Wedding To Remember

Let me introduce myself. My name is Rob Alberti, owner of After Hours DJ Service. We have been in business since 1983. We have built a reputation in the DJ entertainment industry for both College and Wedding mobile DJing over that time period. We are not one of the Mega-DJ services. There are only a select 4 of us. We have concentrated on quality, not quantity as many other services have. I am a member of the Connecticut Professional DJ Association, a nonprofit association whose mission is the betterment of the industry. I also am editor of their monthly newsletter and have written for the national DJ trade publication, Mobile Beat.

We service the CT & Western MA areas. Here is an article that I have recently written for a local paper:

A WEDDING TO REMEMBER

Are you planning a wedding and don’t want it to be just like your sister’s or your best friends wedding? Over the past 14 years, I’ve seen many "cookie-cutter" weddings, but some events stand out from the others even after years have gone by. Let me share those with you.

Theme weddings always tend to stand out. One couple had a medieval wedding. Not only were the couple dressed the part, complete with sword at side, but all the guest were also attired accordingly. We’ve also seen Hawaiian wedding theses, a country wedding where the bride taught line dances to her guests and a very elegant Victorian wedding were all of the wedding party’s outfits were recreated down to the tiniest of details off of sketches from the era.

Transportation is also a great way to individualize your wedding day. From riding a "Harley Hog" to the ever romantic, horse and carriage, you can set the mood with your arrival. One couple left their reception in a hot air balloon. How could you ever forget that? I’ve even seen a party bus where the entire wedding party is kept together for the ride between church and reception location.

You don’t have to get married in wetsuits at the bottom of a lake to make a statement. There are many less extreme ways to design your own fairy-tale wedding. You could opt for the quaint "Bed & Breakfast" reception. Some people decide on the backyard tent reception as a way to save money. Usually that’s not the end result, but it is a wonderful way to get the "Family Hometown" feel to your day. I’ve done events on a boat in Boston Harbor or down the Connecticut River. The water is so beautiful as a backdrop for a wedding.

Uniqueness does not just have to be in the physical sense. It can also be in the way things are done. When you and your husband are on the dance floor for your 1st dance, you could have all your guests circle around you and blow bubbles. You could hand out bells for every table to ring instead of clinking of the glasses. If you decide to avoid the clinking glasses altogether, you can do what one couple did. They arranged for everyone in the wedding party to have a little story or funny fact about the couple and whenever their guest's clinked their glasses, another person from the wedding party stood up and told their story. This had to be one of the most personalized weddings and hardest to forget events that I’ve ever done.

Remember, you wedding day should be all your own. Picture in your mind that vision of your wedding day that you’ve been dreaming of since you were a little girl. Make your fairy-tale wedding come true with that uniqueness that’s all your own.
